Terms & Conditions

Terms & conditions

At Glow Makeup we aim to offer the highest possible standard of customer care.  In order to help us achieve this we would ask that you carefully read the terms and conditions below prior to making a booking.  The contract with you that is formed when you make a booking is premised on the fact that you have read and understood these terms.  Please feel free to contact us if you have any queries.

1.      Glow Makeup complies with the Distance Selling Regulations. Distance selling contracts are those which are concluded (you making your order and Glow Makeup confirming your order) exclusively by 'means of distance communication'. In the case of Glow Makeup this covers our website, email communications, physical mail and telephone calls.

2.      Definitions:

2.1       "Client" refers to the person making the booking.  Where the client is NOT the same person as the recipient of our services, for example the bride, then the contact details of service recipient will need to be provided in addition to the client's details at the time of booking.

2.2       "Services" refers to those items listed in the "Services" page on our website

2.3       "Booking date" refers to the date when the Glow Makeup service will be rendered, for example the wedding day.

2.4       "Date of booking" refers to the date when the booking for a service is made.

2.5       "Contract": a contract between the client and Glow Makeup will come into force when a booking is confirmed (i.e. a deposit has been received) and an acknowledgement is sent out via email or mail by Glow Makeup.  The date of the contract will be the date of the email/letter from Glow Makeup acknowledging the booking.

3.      Bookings

3.1       Submission of a booking request:  bookings for any of our stated services can be made by phone, email, website enquiry form or physical mail.

3.2       Bookings will remain provisionally allocated to the client for a period of 7 days.  A provisional booking will become a confirmed booking ONLY upon receipt of deposit payment (see section 4 below)

3.3       A booking will only become provisional upon receipt of a client's, and if different the service recipient's, name, address and contact details, including a telephone number; and acknowledgement by Glow Makeup of receipt of these details and that the date/time requested by the client is available.  The client should not assume that a booking has been provisionally made upon submission of a booking request only.

3.4       During a provisional booking period Glow Makeup can accept applications and booking requests from other clients. In this case confirmation of the provisional booking will be on a first come first serve basis.

4.      Payment

4.1       Trials: to confirm a booking for a trial, payment of a small deposit (10.00) should be received no later than 48hours before the date of the trial.  Payment can be posted to Glow Makeup (cheque) or made electronically via PayPal or bank transfer.  Details of the PayPal email address or bank details will be provided at the time of booking.  The balance of payment will become payable by CASH ONLY on the day of the trial and prior to the trial commencing.

4.2       Services other than trials- deposit payments: To confirm a booking for any of our other services a 50% deposit will be required to be made within 7 days of a successful trial.  Where a trial has not been requested and received by the client payment must be made within 14 days of the date of making a provisional booking (see section 2 above for how to make a confirmed booking).  In either case the deposit should be received by Glow Makeup no later than 30 days before the date when the service will be rendered -i.e. the booking date.  In the case of cheque payments you should allow sufficient time so that the cheque is received and cleared before this 30 day threshold. Glow makeup will confirm receipt of payment in writing (email or letter) and send this, together with a receipt and an invoice for the balance of payment to the client.  The date of this confirmation will be deemed to be the confirmed date of booking.

4.3       Upon receipt of deposit Glow Makeup will confirm in writing by way of a letter that the booking is confirmed, issue a receipt for payment and raise an invoice for the balance of payment.  The date of the letter will represent the date from which the cooling off period applies (see 5.3).

4.4       If the deposit is not received in accordance with 4.2 above Glow Makeup reserves the right to cancel the booking or revert the confirmed booking back to provisional status until such time the deposit has been received.

4.5       Services other than trials - balance of payment:  The balance due to Glow Makeup is payable by the client by no later than the day of the event.  If payment is on the day of the event then only cash payment will be accepted and this payment must be made prior to the makeup session commencing.  If payment of the balance is made prior to 30 days of the booking date a discount will be applied to the client's invoice.

4.6       Concessions/discounts:  Glow Makeup is happy to offer discounts on the prices quoted in our "Services" page as follows: a) Trials: if the full amount is received (in the case of cheques, when funds have cleared) in advance of the booking date a 10% discount will be applied. b) Other services: if the full amount is received by Glow Makeup more than 30 days in advance of the booking date a 5% discount will be applied.

4.7       Payment methods:  a) Cash; b) PayPal (PayPal email address available will be provided at the time of booking) c) cheques (payee details will be provided at the time of booking); and d) direct bank transfer or BACS (bank details will be provided at the time of booking).  Regrettably, we do not accept payment via debit or credit card.

4.8       Glow Makeup does not offer any credit facilities.

5.      Cancellations

5.1       Your rights under the distance selling regulations apply.  This means that you can seek a refund of monies paid within 7 days of entering into a contract with Glow Makeup.  The effective date of the contract is the date when the provisional booking is confirmed -i.e. when a deposit has been received (for cheque payments this is the date when the cheque clears).

5.2       Provisional bookings can be cancelled at any time prior to the booking date without the client incurring any penalties.  However, we would be grateful if a provisional booking cancellation could be notified to Glow Makeup as soon as possible after the date of the booking.

5.3       Confirmed bookings can be cancelled within 7 days after the date of when a confirmed booking is made -i.e. the date of acknowledgement of receipt of deposit payment by Glow Makeup.  For example, if a client makes a 50% deposit payment via bank transfer and the funds are received by the 3rd and Glow makeup sends an acknowledgement email to confirm receipt together with an invoice for the deposit on the 5th, the date of confirmed booking will be deemed to be the 5th. The client has 7 days from the 5th (up until the 12th) in which the cooling off period under the Distance Selling Regulations apply.

5.4       If a client has commissioned a service and the work begins before the end of the 7 days cancellation period, then the client must give up his/her right to cancel and Glow Makeup reserves the right to not make a refund.

5.5       For any cancellations no refund will be made for the deposit.  If the client has paid the balance of payments in advance (i.e. the remaining 50%) of the booking date this will be refunded via bank transfer to the client's bank account

5.6       In the unlikely event that Glow Makeup is unable to meet its obligations in rendering a service booked by a client (for example due to illness) Glow Makeup will, in the first instance, attempt to provide the client with a substitute professional makeup artist. If a substitute cannot be sourced Glow Makeup will refund the full amounts received from the client within 48hours of notifying the client that a substitute could not be sourced.

6       Short notice bookings

6.1       Where a booking is made at short notice such that the timelines for bookings and payments set out above cannot be applied then Glow Makeup reserves the right to seek full payment in advance of the booking date.  Clients should be aware that in this instance they may have to give up the right, under the distance selling regulations, to cancel and Glow Makeup reserves the right to not make a refund.

7       Pricing

7.1       The prices quoted on this website are all inclusive, subject to the location of the event being within the boundary set out on the "Services" page.  Any bookings that are outside of this specified boundary may be subject to additional charges, for example overnight accommodation and mileage.

7.2       Notwithstanding the boundary, where the client requires Glow Makeup's services during hours that are considered extraordinary (for example, a start time before 5am) an additional charge may be made for overnight stay near to the location.

8       Insurance arrangements

8.1       Glow Makeup can reasonably expect that the premises where the services will be discharged will be fully insured.

8.2       Clients are strongly advised to ensure that they have the requisite insurance arrangements in place that provide suitable coverage for costs that they may incur due to cancellations.

9       Confirmation of booking details by the client will represent the client's understanding and acceptance of these terms and conditions

10     Terms and Conditions are subject to change and will be updated on this page.
